Industry: which were the most affected sectors
In December, 14 of the 16 manufacturing industry divisions presented year-on-year declines.
Sorted according to their incidence at the general level, falls were recorded in “Machinery and equipment”, 36.3%; “Food and beverages”, 7.8%; “Basic metal industries”, 25.4%; “Other equipment, devices and instruments”, 42.2%; “Substances and chemical products”, 9.2%; “Furniture and mattresses, and other manufacturing industries”, 26.6%; “Metal products”, 16.2%; “Clothing, leather and footwear”, 13.1%.
“Wood, paper, publishing and printing” also registered strong contractions, 7.8%; “Non-metallic mineral products”, 9.3%; “Motor vehicles, bodies, trailers and auto parts”, 2.2%; “Rubber and plastic products”, 2.1%; “Textile products”, 2.5%; and “Tobacco products”, 10.8%. For their part, the “Other transportation equipment” divisions showed increases, 11.8%; and “Oil refining, coke and nuclear fuel”, 0.4%.
