In a second wave of payments starting on Thursday, the climate bonus will now also go to those 633,000 people in Austria who have not yet received it but have met the eligibility criterion at the end of the year. This applies, among other things, to newborns, newcomers or those who have moved or have no permanent address.

There is no need to submit an application for this, the Climate Protection Ministry emphasized in a statement on Wednesday. For 457,00 people it is transferred directly to their accounts. Around 176,000 people will receive the climate bonus by post from March 4th as a voucher that can be redeemed or exchanged for cash in thousands of shops across Austria.
The climate bonus redistributes the income from the CO2 tax. The basic amount is 110 euros. Depending on how well the region you live in is equipped with public transport, there are between 40 and 110 regional compensation. Children get half the fee.
