Stock exchange in Frankfurt: DAX continues to fight with 17,000 points

The Dax started the last trading day of the stock market week on Friday morning with narrow gains. The much-noticed mark of 17,000 points turned out to be too high in the morning, despite new records for some US indices: within the first few minutes, the leading German index rose by 0.09 percent to 16,979 points.

After its record high on Tuesday at around 17,050 points, the Dax had not yet been able to sustainably rise above the psychologically important mark of 17,000 points. Jochen Stanzl from CMC Markets attributes the currently low fluctuation range in the most important German stock market barometer to a stalemate between buyers and sellers. In general, the mood on the stock exchanges is good, so there are signs of a small increase for the German leading index over the week.

The MDax of the 50 medium-sized stocks rose by 0.13 percent to 25,821 points on Friday morning. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 lost 0.12 percent to 4,705 points after climbing above 4,700 points the previous day for the first time since 2001.
