They are talking to each other again: Lufthansa and the Verdi union are negotiating a new collective agreement for around 25,000 employees.
After the 27-hour warning strike by Lufthansa ground staff, the collective bargaining parties are negotiating again. Representatives of the Verdi union and Lufthansa met at Frankfurt Airport on Monday, as both sides reported. The strike that began last Wednesday at the Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Berlin locations resulted in around 900 flight cancellations. The warning strike ended on Thursday. Verdi wanted to force an improved offer from the employer.
In the collective bargaining dispute, Verdi is demanding 12.5 percent more salary for the approximately 25,000 employees of various Lufthansa companies, but at least 500 euros per month for a term of one year. There will also be a group-wide inflation bonus of 3,000 euros. Lufthansa has offered 13 percent more money and an inflation bonus for a period of three years.
