Russian Post has requested subsidies from the state in the amount of 1.336 billion rubles for the launch of unmanned trucks on the M11 Moscow-Petersburg highway. This was reported by Vedomosti, citing a source and the company’s proposals for the Unmanned Logistic Corridor (BLK) project on Monday, December 13.
Subsidies are required due to the high cost of drones, while it is not currently possible to compensate for it with salaries. It is noted that the cost of such delivery increases for most carriers by 8-18%.
“Start of unmanned mail transportation along the M11 [Москва–Петербург] it is expected in 2024, and the return on recoupment is planned in 2035, ”said a source familiar with the company’s proposal.
The losses were caused by an increase in the cost of delivery by drones. Such trucks are more expensive, but saving on salaries is not yet possible, sources in transport companies explained the argumentation of the Russian Post.
The representative of the Russian Post noted that it is impossible to say unequivocally that these subsidies are for the company. According to him, first of all, these are “measures to support manufacturers and developers of transport technology and infrastructure for drones.”
The delivery of goods via an unmanned logistics corridor (BLK) will also be launched by Delovye Linii, Globaltruck, Ozon, X5 Group and other companies, the newspaper said.
A test unmanned courier delivery may be launched in Moscow in 2022. The department of entrepreneurship and innovative development of the capital said in October that if the experiment is successful, drones will be used to deliver goods in the city.
In early October, Russian Post announced in its Telegram channel that it wants to use the electric tricycle developed at Skolkovo to deliver small cargoes to recipients in Moscow. The vehicle can move in any weather thanks to the closed cabin and thermal insulation of the cargo compartment. The tricycle is capable of speeds up to 30 km / h, and its carrying capacity is 90 kg. The model was developed by the Nizhny Novgorod Forward company.
The electric tricycle was presented at the Skolkovo Technopark at the International E-Commerce and Retail Forum on October 7. The exact date of the start of serial production is unknown. The car costs about 600 thousand rubles.
