The Russian Post commented on reports of subsidies for the launch of drones

Information about the request for state subsidies for the launch of unmanned trucks on the M11 Moscow-Petersburg highway is in the presentation materials for the meeting with the working group under the government, prepared by the Russian Post under the Unmanned Logistics Corridor (BLK) project. Izvestia was told about this in the press service of the state corporation, commenting on media reports about the corresponding request on Monday, December 13.

“As one of the possible scenarios to compensate for losses from the transition to unmanned trucks in 2024-2034, it was proposed to subsidize unmanned deliveries. We believe that these are, first of all, measures to support manufacturers and developers of technology: transport and infrastructure for drones, ”the press service said.

The fact that the Russian Post has requested subsidies from the state in the amount of 1.336 billion rubles for the launch of unmanned trucks on the M11 Moscow-Petersburg highway, Vedomosti reported earlier on Monday. It was noted that subsidies were requested due to the high cost of drones, while it is currently impossible to compensate for their price through salaries. At the same time, the cost of such delivery increases for most carriers by 8-18%.

The source of the publication stated that the start of unmanned mail transportations on the M11 is planned for 2024, and the return on recoupment is planned for 2035.

The press service of the Russian Post added that the presentation materials contained, among other things, information that the project is expected to reach self-sufficiency in 2035. However, it will be possible to speak about the final economic model of the BLK project only after solving the problems of equipping the route itself, finalizing the existing prototypes of unmanned vehicles and algorithms for its operation, agreeing and approving the Experimental legal regime, building “effective logistics processes,” they added.

The economics of the project will depend primarily on the cost of technology and vehicles, the company stressed.

At the end of October, the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of Moscow was informed that a test unmanned courier delivery could be launched in the capital in 2022. They noted that if the experiment is successful, drones will be used to deliver goods in the city.

The Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development told Izvestia that they had not received a request from the Russian Post for subsidies for the launch of unmanned trucks on the M11.

In early October, Russian Post announced in its Telegram channel that it wants to use the electric tricycle developed at Skolkovo to deliver small cargoes to recipients in Moscow. The vehicle can move in any weather thanks to the closed cabin and thermal insulation of the cargo compartment. The tricycle is capable of speeds up to 30 km / h, and its carrying capacity is 90 kg. The model was developed by the Nizhny Novgorod Forward company.
