They have the opening of the quota for meat exports to the US for 2022: what are the conditions

At that time, the portfolio decided to replace the “first come, first served” criterion that had been applied for “not being optimal when there is a high demand for exports to a specific destination” and for leaving many exporters unable to participate.

Therefore, to guarantee “efficiency and equity”, three parameters will be taken into account in the distribution for next year for those who have already participated in the quota: the average value and the total value of exports to all destinations (except the United States quota), and the average export value within the quota to that country.

For this, three consecutive periods will be taken to evaluate the export performance of each applicant. On the other hand, it was decided to add a third category to the two groups of beneficiaries of the tariff preference granted by the United States (meat processing plants and groups of producers, grouped in joint projects) with the aim of achieving “equal access” and “discouraging monopolistic behavior that displaces the smaller producing and exporting units.”

This category will be targeted at new applicants with an interest in exporting who have not participated in the last two business cycles of exports to the United States. For the Industry category (refrigerators) up to 90% of the 20,000 ton quota will be allocated, and for the Joint Projector category up to 5% will be allocated, while for new applicants the remaining 5%.

Within this 5% destined to new participants, up to 90% will be attended to new applicants in the Industry category, and the remaining 10% to attend requests for new projects. This regime, according to the Ministry, will initially be in force for three years.

Those interested will be able to register from tomorrow until December 23 by sending an application to the Ministry on the Remote Procedures Platform (TAD) available at www.tramitesadistancia.gob.ar, having to fulfill the various requirements documentation. According to the latest data from the Argentine Beef Promotion Institute (IPCVA) for October, almost the entire quota was exported with 17,220 tons shipped.

The United States represents the fourth destination in volumes of beef exports with 3.6% of the total, and generated foreign exchange earnings (as of October) for US $ 106,779, 14.3% more than in 2020.
