The “technical table” led by Federico Sturzenegger and Santiago Caputo will meet to dissect the omnibus law and determine strategies to accelerate the management plan.

Through “non-news”, the national government gave a sign of what is coming, and that will be finalized in the meeting that this Friday will have the first line of the administration of Javier Milei. The call of the Executive to extraordinary sessions in the Congress expired this Thursday. And the “non-news” is that there was no request for an extension. The period ends, thus, without any approved law, and with the failure of the omnibus project as the main symbol of the beginning of the parliamentary year.

The non-extension of the extraordinary ones triggers two Government strategies. The first, a internal rearrangement of La Libertad Avanza in the Congress premises, which includes the alliance with the PRO. The ruling party must count its beans again after the tension with spaces like the UCR or We Make a Federal Coalition, where different positions coexist. Better to stop the ball and wait for the opening of ordinary sessions, on March 1.

The second, without parliamentary activityMilei will delve into his intention to avoid the Congress, and the way to do it will be by taking measures by decree. Milei mentioned in the media that consensus with “the caste” was not an objective. “It is a possibility,” they now recognize in Government House about the option of moving forward with DNUs in aspects of deregulation economic situation proposed by the omnibus law. That will be one of the axes of the scheduled meeting of the “technical table”, headed by Federico Sturzenegger and Santiago Caputo. The intention is to dissect the omnibus law and look at details of the DNUespecially the labor chapter stopped by Justice, and design a plan so that some of the reforms are implemented by decree, while others return to the Congressthrough the most limited bills.

It will no longer be an Alberdian impulse, of mega reforms, but rather an advance issue by issue. Officials from the Legal and Technical Secretariat that commands will also participate in the meeting. Javier Herrera Bravofrom the Chief of Staff led by Nicolas Posseand the Treasury Palace of Luis Caputo.

Some axes were advanced this week by the President himself, such as the possibility of advancing by decree with the trusts. Milei pointed out that this point brought down the omnibus law because they are the systems through which politics is financed. It is also central for the Government to resolve the adequacy of the pension formula for updating retirement assets.

The promotion of investments will also be one of the topics to be discussed. However, beyond the intention to bypass Congress, Milei accelerates its fiscal plan by cutting subsidies, mainly to the provinces. Technical specialists, in addition, have the judicial system in their sights, since they do not rule out finding in the courts a new battle front that puts a stop to the measures.
