The Collection Agency of the province of Buenos Aires (ARBA) began to notify, through the Electronic Tax Address and other means of communication, 29,530 taxpayers, who are owners of 30,926 sports boats and owe, together, more than $10,000 million of the provincial tax that taxes these assets.
The announcement of these actions to recover debt in sectors with high tax capacity was made by the director of ARBA, Cristian Girard, after an inspection operation carried out at a yacht club in Ensenada, where the agency detained two boats that registered, between the two, more than $2.5 million in debt for the Sports Boat Tax.
He indicated that “recovering debt from the richest sectors is essential,” and stated that “that is why it is more important than ever to reinforce this type of actions.”
“To put it in dimension, to supply the resources of the National Teacher Incentive Fund that the Government of Javier Milei did not transfer, Governor Axel Kicillof resolved to pay $ 8.5 billion with his own provincial income, and the debt that we claim from the owners of sports boats. exceeds $10,000 million”Girard stressed.
In relation to the vessel retention and seizure operations, the head of the provincial collection agency assured that they will be “really intransigent with these sectors.”
“Enough speculation and advantages for those who have the most, while Milei adjusts those who have the least,” said the Buenos Aires official.
He stressed that “it is the first time in history that ARBA hijacks sports boats,” and specified that “In some cases, they are yachts that have a market valuation of $30 million and up.”
“In other words, there are people with assets worth thousands of dollars floating in the water and they don’t pay taxes. Well, we’re going to hijack their boat. Why? Because there are people who have a car, an apartment, and they pay the daily tax. And other people who, having economic capacity, speculate on not paying their taxes until we go look for them,” Girard noted.
He pointed out that “this strategy of tax non-compliance by those sectors with greater economic capacity is unfair and harms taxpayers who do make an effort to comply with their obligations.”
Furthermore, he pointed out that “it deprives the Province of essential resources, which is very serious, especially in the context of adjustment and elimination of allocations to the provincial districts that the national government is carrying out.”
In recent weeks, ARBA intensified its inspection of the nautical sector and undeclared luxury constructions.
In this context, it detected in Nordelta, Tigre district, 45,000 square meters built without declaring and retained two yachts that owed more than $1.5 million.
Similar actions at moorings and nautical nurseries in San Fernando allowed, after the retention procedure, to regularize the situation of eight luxury yachts, whose owners owed a total of $15 million in tribute to Sports Boats.
While in Pinamar, Through satellite images, the contribution of a drone and in-person inspections, more than 70,000 square meters of undeclared construction were detected, corresponding to 215 luxury homes and 17 high-rise buildings.
Developers and owners who evaded the Real Estate Tax, by having their buildings declared vacant, must face fines of up to $25 million.
The same thing happened in Mar del Platawhere ARBA teams found more than 120,000 undeclared square meters, belonging to 57 high-rise buildings and more than 200 houses in gated communities.
These types of controls to reduce evasion and recover debt in sectors with greater taxable capacity will continue in countries, gated communities, moorings, clubs and nautical nurseries in different parts of the Buenos Aires territory.
