400 billion rubles will be allocated for the modernization of electric transport in five years

About 400 billion rubles will be allocated for the modernization of public electric transport in the next five years, including from the NWF. Oleg Govorun, Deputy Chairman – Member of the Board of VEB.RF, told Izvestia about this.

13 cities applied for participation in the electric transport modernization program. We are talking about Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Yaroslavl, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Kursk, Saratov, Ufa, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Rostov-on-Don. This list can be expanded, the state corporation explained.

The program will start next year, its investment stage will take from two to five years – during this period it is planned to complete most of the projects. At the same time, the term of concession agreements will be up to 25 years, said the deputy chairman of VEB.RF.

In total, it is planned to replace 668 km of tram lines in 13 cities, and to purchase 1,544 tram cars. Also, the money will go to the purchase of electric buses and the construction of charging stations, explained Oleg Govorun.

It is assumed that projects for the modernization of transport in cities will be implemented under a concession scheme (regional or municipal), the list of which will be determined by the Ministry of Transport of Russia. Transport projects will be financed by VEB.RF, NWF, private investors and infrastructure budget loans. The Ministry of Finance told Izvestia that up to 120 billion rubles could be allocated from the NWF for these purposes. The money will be placed on VEB’s deposits.

Earlier, the Ministry of Economics told Izvestia that the list of priority projects for funding from the NWF included 12 initiatives. Among them are the projects of Avtodor, Russian Railways and VEB.RF. The ministry clarified that now, together with the Ministry of Finance, work continues on the parameters for providing funds from the NWF – until 2024, 2.5 trillion rubles will be allocated from it for infrastructure purposes.
