The corona pandemic is over. 13.6 billion euros in emergency aid was paid out to companies. How much has been returned so far?
A total of around 3.3 billion euros of the emergency aid granted by the federal government to companies during the pandemic has been repaid. A spokeswoman for the Federal Ministry of Economics said this on Wednesday and confirmed a report in the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”. The funds provided by the federal government would be returned to the federal budget via the states.
The federal government’s Corona emergency aid could be applied for at the beginning of the pandemic from March to May 2020 for a three-month funding period. According to the ministry, a total of around 13.6 billion euros were paid out.
The ministry explained that the Corona aid was paid out quickly and unbureaucratically to companies whose existence was threatened and whose sales had fallen sharply. Conceptually, the review of the final funding amount was moved to the final bill in order to be able to help quickly. “The federal government has worked to ensure that the state licensing authorities grant appropriate repayment conditions that do justice to the economic performance of companies and the self-employed.”
