In January-October 2021, sales of smartphones over 50 thousand rubles in Russia increased by 1.5 times, and the share of such devices in the Russian market jumped from 8.3% to 12.9%. MTS informed Izvestia about this (it is about the analysis of the entire market of the country, and not just data on the company’s stores). Thus, the share of premium phones for the first time rose above 10%, said the operator’s representative Alexei Merkutov. The demand for budget models is decreasing, he noted.
According to the leading analyst of Mobile Research Group Eldar Murtazin, the growth of the segment of devices more expensive than 50 thousand rubles is associated with an increase in their cost – this year it has increased by about 30%. The model, which last year cost less than 50 thousand rubles, this year could step over this bar. At the same time, people prefer to buy gadgets without waiting for their further rise in price, because an expensive device in terms of a set of characteristics will remain relevant for several more years, the expert said.
