Concern and skepticism are currently dominating domestic companies about the difficult economic situation. According to the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce, two thirds of the companies in the country are severely affected by the uncertain times. They cite high energy and fuel costs, inflation, labor costs and supply chain problems as the biggest challenges.
The shortage of work and skilled workers is currently being overshadowed by these issues, said Chamber of Commerce President Doris Hummer at a press conference on Tuesday. But it is a long-running favorite, and it is all the more important to connect companies with the right employees.
250 companies, 700 events
The “Upper Austrian Job Week” offers one opportunity for this. The advocacy group with companies from all over the country is holding this from March 18th to 22nd this year. 250 companies hold around 700 events and provide insights behind the scenes. This includes trial visits, company tours, lectures, open days and workshops.
All events and workshops are available online at jobweek.at. The offer is aimed at students who want to start an apprenticeship, students and job seekers, said Hummer. The initiative’s cooperation partners are the Labor Market Service and the Upper Austrian Education Directorate.
