This cannot be due to the increased CO2 pricing at the beginning of the year – because this was already fully priced in in January. The price of diesel in particular is clearly decoupled from the price of crude oil. Diesel currently costs an average of around 1.70 euros per liter and is still more expensive than gasoline (1.60 euros) – and, as in February, around 10 cents more expensive than in December 2023. Once again in western Austria dig deeper into your pockets. “Based on the median values from E-Control, the level in Tyrol is around 5 cents higher and in Vorarlberg around 6 cents higher than in the rest of Austria,” says the club.
