This week, appearances by US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and the monetary watchdog from the European Central Bank (ECB) strengthened interest rate hopes on the market. The Dax had reached a new record the day before, and there were also new records on Wall Street. Investors read from the monetary authorities’ indications that the central banks could start cutting interest rates in June.
Investors on Europe’s stock exchanges also initially took a breather on Friday morning; after significant gains the previous day, the Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 barely moved with plus 0.03 percent at 4975.67 points.
