After warning strikes took place in Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck and Klagenfurt on Thursday, the bicycle messengers and food delivery workers from Lieferando and Foodora are also calling for protest demonstrations in Linz and Salzburg.

There will be a demonstration in front of the delivery service offices in Linz and Salzburg on Tuesday from 1 p.m. There will be a rally in Vienna this morning.

The collective agreement applies to around 2,000 employees, many others are freelancers or self-employed. After four rounds of collective bargaining negotiations, the employers’ offer was 5.8 percent.
However, the vida union is demanding at least compensation for rolling inflation of 8.7 percent. “We are calling on the social partner to return to the negotiating table, we are ready to negotiate at any time,” says Toni Pravdic, head of collective bargaining for the vida union.

For Lieferando, the union’s demand is unacceptable: “The requested increase of 8.7 percent alone would drive the employer’s pure personnel costs to an impressive 19 euros per hour.” Customers would not accept the necessary price increases.
