After arson attack: Power supply at the Tesla factory is running again

The Tesla factory near Berlin is back on the power grid faster than initially expected. Now production must be ramped up.

After the power supply to the Tesla factory near Berlin was restored, Brandenburg’s Economics Minister Jörg Steinbach thanked the energy provider Edis. “Great job! And now toi toi toi at the re-start!” wrote the SPD politician on the online platform X (formerly Twitter).

After the attack on the power supply at the car manufacturer in Grünheide, the repairs were completed much earlier than expected. Now production is to be gradually ramped up again. A spokeswoman said it is not yet possible to say when it will be fully operational again. “We’ll just have to wait and see.”

About a week ago, a fire was set on a freely accessible electricity pylon in a field, which also secures the supply to the Tesla factory. Production at the car factory came to a standstill. The far-left Vulcan group said it was responsible for the attack.

Tesla initially expected production to come to a standstill until the end of the week due to the power outage. However, according to the supplier Edis, the decisive switching could take place in the network control center on Monday at 8.45 p.m.
