The AFIP seeks to create teams for SMEs and monotributistas

The administrator, Florencia Misrahi, announced that they are implementing new specific tables in their structure to be close to the taxpayer, improving attention.

The Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP) is aimed at reorganizing its structures and improving taxpayer service, based on its two essential missions: supervise and collect. This arises from what was stated by the federal administrator of the AFIP, Florence Misrahi, in recent presentation before taxpayers.

Within the framework of the conference called “The central challenges of the AFIP at the beginning of the 21st century”organized by the Argentine Association of Fiscal Studies (AAEF), in addition to referring to the evaluation carried out in the organization from whose results future decisions will emerge, Misrahi dedicated a part to giving a status report on the administration, its objectives and certain measures that target some groups of taxpayers.

In his speech he highlighted that there was a lack of assessment of the information contained in the organization and the dimension it has. At the moment, The single agency that administers the tax, customs and social security system has 21,829 employees, distributed in 73 agencies and 59 customs offices. It is an autonomous organization “without deficit,” the official noted.

Improve taxpayer service

In this quantitative context he also pointed out that taxpayer services answered 501,000 web queries and answered 322,000 calls; However, he highlighted that The idea is to be close to the taxpayer, improving service.

He did not dare to give an exact number of taxpayers due to the complexity of reaching that specific number considering perceptions and other forms of collection. But he specified that there are 537,000 employers; 14 million workers and 4.8 million monotributistas.

Misrahi highlighted that she was surprised to see the agency’s organizational chart due to its magnitude, but she was even more surprised to discover that there were no teams dedicated to SMEs or monotributistas at any level. To the former, due to its importance in attracting labor and respect for small taxpayers due to the number it covers.

As a consequence, the administrator announced that they are implementing these new specific tables in their structure, which will require drafting their mission and functions, beyond the intention of collaborating with said contributory sectors.

On the other hand, to carry out her management, the official listed the new basic components that will make it up, among which she pointed out issues such as:

  • secure and unique digital identification of subjects to eliminate multiple presentations;
  • effective data management; the management of tax regulations that are integrated into the daily activity of taxpayers;
  • the application of artificial intelligence and
  • forge civic culture around taxes.
