Stock exchange in Frankfurt: DAX remains just below 18,000 points

The German leading index Dax remained stuck below 18,000 points on Tuesday. In early trading, the Dax was up a few points at 17,942 points. Thursday’s record high of 18,039 points remains close. As is often the case, investors are keeping a low profile ahead of the interest rate decisions made by central banks in the USA, Great Britain and Switzerland later this week.

The German leading index Dax remained stuck below 18,000 points on Tuesday. In early trading, the Dax was up a few points at 17,942 points. Thursday’s record high of 18,039 points remains close. As is often the case, investors are keeping a low profile ahead of the interest rate decisions made by central banks in the USA, Great Britain and Switzerland later this week.

The MDax of medium-sized companies fell by 0.2 percent to 26,075 points on Tuesday morning. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 stood still.

The first interest rate decision was made in Japan during the week of the central banks. The Tokyo Stock Exchange calmly accepted the expected turnaround from the negative interest rate policy with price gains. Looking at individual stocks, Airbus and Hannover Re stood out, with both stocks reaching highs. The goals of the airport operator Fraport for this year were not convincing on the market, the shares fell by 6.6 percent at the end of the MDax.
