Rewe opens the first vegan branch in Germany

Rewe opens the first vegan branch in Germany

The Rewe company has chosen the federal capital to open its first vegan branch there. It should be ready in the spring. Otherwise, the company is keeping a low profile.

A Rewe store just for vegan food? It should be ready this spring: the first branch without meat products will open in Berlin. “In the test, we are relying 100 percent on plant-based foods for the first time,” confirmed a spokesman for the Rewe Group star-Inquiry.

The store will open at Warschauer Brücke in Friedrichshain. The company still left questions about other vegan Rewe branches unanswered. It was said that further details would only be announced when the store opened.

The first reported on the plans. Accordingly, Rewe is taking over the premises of the former branch of the vegan supermarket chain “Veganz”. According to its own information, it had already “successfully sold” its last branch location on Warschauer Strasse, at the corner of Marchlewskistrasse, to a subsequent operator in December.

Vegan store Novum, but not the only Rewe branch in the area

There should be no reason for sadness for the Berliners living there after it was announced that Rewe will close the gap again with its own vegan offering. According to “Supermarktblog”, the company’s logo is already emblazoned on the facade, but it is still covered by a black cloth.

In the Warschauer Straße area, the Rewe Group is already represented with a classic supermarket in the East Side Mall and a Rewe to go in the Warschauer Straße S-Bahn station. Last summer, the shop on the corner of Revaler Strasse, popular with partygoers, closed because the building was demolished to accommodate a newly opened branch.
