Order Service Linz – Commitment to order and cleanliness – every day of the year

Guided by the principles of friendliness, competence and helpfulness, the sworn supervisory bodies of the OSL ensure harmonious coexistence in the city. Your tasks cover a wide range: from monitoring compliance with local residents’ obligations such as shrub pruning and winter maintenance in accordance with the road traffic regulations to deployment by security services in municipal facilities if necessary. A particular focus is on controlling stationary traffic. By issuing around 16,000 mandates per year, the supervisory bodies make a significant contribution to reducing the burden on police forces and increasing traffic safety in the Linz city area.

In addition, the OSL teams are present in the city center with civilian controls in order to effectively combat begging. These operations result in around 100 reports of violations of the Upper Austrian police criminal law every month, which has contributed to a noticeable decline in organized begging in Linz.

The OSL is innovative by introducing a fully digital and mobile recording and documentation system, which makes it a pioneer in digital transformation within the city of Linz’s corporate group.

The comprehensive training of the supervisory bodies is carried out by the city council of Linz and the Security Academy of the Ministry of the Interior. It covers a wide range of topics – from the tiered structure of the Austrian legal system to general administrative procedural law. Practical training is also not neglected. Among other things, tactical behavior during operations and controls is taught in role-playing games with the support of video analysis.
