ADMIRA met with Martín Llaryora to analyze the current situation in the maturgical sector

The governor of the province of Córdoba, Martin Llaryorareceived in his office the president of the Association of Metallurgical Industrialists of the Argentine Republic (ADIMRA), Elio Del Re.

At the meeting, they addressed the current situation of the sector, its importance in increasing high value-added exports and its strong impact on regional economies.

Del Re presented the “Comprehensive Metallurgical Plan”, which focuses on productive proposals to generate competitiveness and growth, through investment plans, legislation, modernization of the industry and the promotion of exports.

In that sense, Del Re explained that metallurgy generates almost “300 thousand direct jobs and 1 million linked to the sector, representing 26% of the industrial GDP, with exports of 5,000 million dollars, which means 22% of the foreign exchange generated by manufacturing of industrial origin”. Likewise, he stressed that “It reaches more than 20,000 companies throughout the national territory (88% are SMEs) and 2.5 out of every 10 jobs in the manufacturing industry correspond to the metallurgical sector.

The governor Llaryora highlighted the export potential, the ability to add value and the role of the metallurgical industry as an engine of national development. Furthermore, Llaryora ratified before ADIMRA his commitment to the productive sector.

The president of ADIMRA stated that “There is potential to increase the current export value of metallurgical products by 50 percent to destinations such as Mercosur, Latin America, the United States, and Europe, reaching more than 155 countries.”, in items such as Auto parts, Metal products, Machinery, Electrical equipment, Medical equipment, Nuclear energy, Equipment for the renewable energy industry, Oil&Gas, and Agricultural machinery, among others.

The Cordoba ministers of Economy and Public Management participated in the meeting, Guillermo Acosta and Production, Science and Technological Innovation, Pedro Dellarossa; the presidents of the Chamber of Metallurgical Industrialists and Components of Córdoba, Gustavo Del Boca; of the San Francisco Metallurgical Industrialists Association, Ariel Poli; of the Metallurgical Chamber of Río Cuarto, Juan Giacobone and metallurgical industrial representatives of the region.
