It was an atmospheric Thursday evening with around 200 guests in the Promenade Galleries in Linz: the winners of the Upper Austrian Daidalos architecture prize were honored. There were 75 submissions in the two categories “Valuable Substance” and “Ingeniously Planned” as well as for the special prize “Proven Buildings”.
The jury consisting of building culture professor Heidi Pretterhofer, architect Christian Tabernig and OÖN architecture critic Georg Wilbertz presented a total of 14 nominated projects. Three of them were honored as winners.
In the “Valuable Substance” category, Kaltenbacher Architektur and Steinbauer Architektur & Design won with Haus Havanna, a conversion of the Linz tobacco factory. In the “Sophisticatedly planned” category, the Dunkelschwarz architectural firm came out on top with the valley station of the Schafbergbahn in St. Wolfgang. The architects Schremmer-Jell secured the special prize “Proven Buildings” with the Linz Cloth Factory in Linz-Auwiesen.
