As explained by the entity, the increase was mainly due to the increase of US$4,737 million registered in the sector’s debt. Non-financial corporations, households and NPISHs. Other financial companies also increased their debt by US$20 million.


By contrast, The general government’s debt was reduced by US$2,372 million. The deposit-taking companies, except the Central Bank and the Central Bank, also reduced their external debt positions, by US$542 million and US$222 million, respectively.
The stock of total gross external debt with debt securities valued at market value was estimated in US$242,885 millionwhich showed an increase of US$6,396 million compared to the previous quarter.
