Transport companies propose to subsidize passengers
In a statement issued last Tuesday, the transport businessmen grouped in AAETA, CEAP, CEUTUPBA and CTPBA They requested that “due to the repeated delay in payment of subsidies and calculation errors, the absolute responsibility of the State, the millions of AMBA bus users perceive the reduction in the number of groups providing service (despite the fact that they exist) a situation that had already been analyzed between the State and the business chambers last year.”
In this sense, they point out that “the Cost Structure used to determine subsidies incorporates the number of real kilometers measured by the GPS that each unit has, being measured (along with input prices) by the State itself. The Secretary of Transportation is solely responsible for such process, using electronic means to measure service provision since 2013.”
“We have not chosen or applied for this subsidy schemenor the changes in criteria in measuring the fleet, or the percentages of reserve cars due to damage caused by the greater age of the fleet, which must be 15%, according to regulations, instead of 10%, thus completely changing the conclusion,” they added.
Within the framework of the removal of subsidies from more than 1,000 groups, they propose, in the form of a solution, “to stop subsidizing companies and instead subsidize the passenger, or rates are charged according to reality as in other places in the country. “Available to provide the elements that demonstrate this situation.”
