President Javier Milei spoke about the evolution of the official exchange rate and confirmed that the crawling peg continues 2% monthly. “It makes no sense to accelerate the rise of the official exchange rate”he said this Friday in an interview and ratified his economic plan.

The president spoke about the economists who ask to accelerate the devaluation and pointed out: “They are absolutely wrong, why do I have to make the exchange rate jump today if the parallel coincides with the official one? “What stupidity is that?”

In an interview with the American media Bloomberg, the President pointed out that “salaries are miserable” not because of the libertarian administration, but because of “20 years of populism.” Afterwards, he maintained, when asked about the short-term social and economic consequences of the reforms he is carrying out, that in Argentina “there has been a cultural change.”

Milei referred to the drop in real wages since December 2023. “From our point of view, there has been a cultural change in Argentina. Most understood that the solution is not populism. Today salaries are miserable not because of us, but as a consequence of 20 years of populism,” she explained from Casa Rosada.
