At the moment we are still busy screwing, hammering, unpacking and assembling: But in exactly six weeks, on May 21st, the new XXXLutz will open on Linzer Donaulände in the immediate vicinity of the Blau-Weiß-Linz stadium. A week before, a Mömax also opened at this location.
By then, for example, 3,000 tons of structural steel will have been installed and 3,000 meters of supports will have been erected: The sales area will extend to 30,000 square meters (total area: 54,500 square meters). During a tour of the construction site on Monday, company spokesman Thomas Saliger described the new building as the “most modern furniture store in the group”. 60 million euros are being invested in the project: As reported, the branch is moving from Europaplatz (it will be open until the beginning of May) to Donaulände. Raiffeisenlandesbank is building its new headquarters at the former Lutz location.
“We are essentially moving from the city to the city,” said Saliger. They have already been well represented in Linz. The new building will bring us closer to the Mühlviertel. “And it’s a sign that we believe in brick-and-mortar retail.” Even if online retail is an important mainstay (among other things, to get an overview in advance) and the frequencies have therefore gradually declined in recent years, customers still want furniture want to see and try it out in the future.
