It is more expensive to build in the province of Buenos Aires than a month ago, although costs rose behind inflation, according to INDEC.
The index of construction cost in Greater Buenos Aires rose 8.1% in March compared to February. According to the data of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC), this increase occurred as a result of a 5% increase in Materials, 14% in labor and 4.9% in general expenses. The interannual increase is 264.9% (March/23 versus March/24) and the accumulated increase in the year is 32.9%.

The “Labor” chapter incorporates the salary agreement of the Construction Workers Union of the Argentine Republic (UOCRA), dated March 7, 2024, approved by Resolution 40/2024. And the increase in labor categories impacts the “General expenses” chapter, because it contains the “Serene” item, which is framed within the resolution.


The Materials were selected due to the importance of their impact on the total cost of the work.. Those that rose the most were granite countertops, with an increase of 14.4%; glass increased 9.8%; cement, lime and plaster 9.6% climbed; the elevators they became more expensive by 7.8%; the wooden kitchen furniture they rise 6.9%; while the sand, the stones and the coarse climbed 6.7%; the bricks and ceramic products6.5% and the carpentry parts6.4%.
