Gazprom began negotiations with China on helium supplies from the Amur GPP

Gazprom is in talks with China on the supply of liquefied helium and hydrocarbon gas. On December 22, the head of the representative office of the Russian holding in the PRC, Viktor Kovtun, said this in an interview for the corporate edition of the company of the same name.

According to him, supplies can be carried out from the Amur Gas Processing Plant.

“The Chinese partners have already expressed interest in purchasing these products,” said a company spokesman in Beijing.

According to him, during the work of the joint coordinating committees of Gazprom with the Chinese CNPC and CNOOC, issues are discussed in such promising areas as gas power generation, the development of a production and marketing infrastructure for natural gas as a vehicle fuel on the Europe-China international transport route. We are also talking about the joint implementation of projects in the field of gas liquefaction.

According to Kovtun, the projects under discussion will be in demand on the Chinese market.

“This means that there is still a lot of work to be done in China,” he added.

The first string of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, through which Russia supplies gas to China, went into operation in December 2019. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping launched supplies.

Gas is transported from the Irkutsk and Yakutsk gas production centers across the Irkutsk, Amur regions and Yakutia, including for Russian consumers in the Far East.

In April 2021, Gazprom approved a feasibility study for the construction of the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline through Mongolia to China, which will be an extension of the Power of Siberia – 2 pipeline.
