It is still unclear to what extent announced global job cuts at Tesla will affect the Grünheide plant. The company reacts to temporary workers.
The car manufacturer Tesla is reducing the number of temporary workers at its factory in Grünheide near Berlin after announcing global job cuts.
When asked, a spokeswoman for the company said: “We have deregistered 300 temporary workers on time – this is not a termination of Tesla employees.” The “Business Insider” portal reported that the contracts of 300 temporary workers would not be extended. A spokeswoman told the dpa: “As far as we know, our contractual partner has already been able to transfer the majority of these deregistered temporary workers into new employment relationships with other customers.”
Tesla has so far worked with a varying number of temporary workers at the factory in Grünheide. In March, the company announced that it had already taken on several hundred temporary workers.
After the announcement of global job cuts at the US car manufacturer, the extent of the cuts for the only European Tesla factory is still unclear. Tesla boss Elon Musk wants to cut more than one in ten jobs in the company in view of the slump in the market for electric cars and weak sales worldwide. Tesla in Grünheide has so far said that they are examining this measure. The works council will be involved.
