The Previaje program exceeded $ 70,000 million in billing

In the second week of this month, when the turnover reached 60,000 million pesos and six times the accumulated in the first edition of Preview (10,000 million), Lammens had predicted -also in dialogue with Télam- that by the end of the year “We will be close to 70 billion pesos, sevenfold” that amount.

Now, the head of the tourism portfolio warned that “there are almost 10 days of ticket loads (until the end of the year), so I think we will be above the 75 billion pesos” entered since August, when the second edition of the plan.

This proposal from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports (Minturdep) had its first edition between November and December 2020, and this year it was relaunched in August, from when it was used by more than 3 million tourists, with the participation of some 100,000 businesses and 15,000 companies in the field.

It is an incentive system for the prior purchase of trips, lodgings and other tourist products that returns 50% of the amount spent on a loan that must be used again in the sector’s commercialization chain.

Lammens argued: “It is a great incentive for demand; it also encourages private parties, so the State collects in both instances: it collects on the first purchase that the tourist makes and collects again with the card that we give them.”

The items enabled by the tourism portfolio to operate with Previaje are accommodation, vehicle and equipment rental, transportation, tourist attractions, travel agencies, regional products, excursions, tourist centers, gastronomy, entertainment and leisure.

This year, the Minturdep launched in September the special version for retirees, Previaje PAMI, which provides greater benefit to the consumer, by increasing the refund to 70% of the expenditure made.

Through an agreement between the Ministry and the Comprehensive Medical Care Program (PAMI), since then some 300,000 people from the passive sector have accessed this program, who generated tickets for about 7,000 million pesos.

“The plan worked in an extraordinary way for all economic sectors, for all social sectors”, said the official, and clarified that “leaving the budget issue, the material issue, many people were allowed to go on vacation.”

In that sense, he explained that, for “many people who did not think about leaving, who had doubts or did not come with the money, this was the tool by which he said ‘well, I take a few days with the family, I take a few days with my friends. ‘

From various sectors, both private and provincial authorities, among others, there is a coincidence that Pre-trip should be maintained as a State policy on a permanent basis.

This proposal is contemplated within a comprehensive tourism bill under preparation within the framework of the Economic and Social Council, which the government will send to Parliament with the intention of unanimous approval, Lammens said.

The Pre-trip Plan also aroused interest in governments of other countries, such as Peru, Ecuador and Paraguay, whose tourism authorities exchanged information with their counterparts in Argentina, and in international organizations, such as the World Tourism Organization and the World Travel and Tourism Council. , who recognized the boost that the program gave the sector in the post-quarantine period, even during the pandemic.
