Meat exports interrupted recovery and fell 3.6% in March

In the first quarter of the year, sales totaled 163.9 thousand tons and accumulated a growth of 25.1% year-on-year. Sales to China went from representing 71.8% between January and March 2023 to 74.4% in the first three months of the current year.

Beef exports interrupted the recovery process that they had been exhibiting in previous months and suffered a drop of 3.6% in March, in terms of quantities, compared to February. This was reported by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Meats and derivatives of the Argentine Republic (CICCRA).

According to the survey data, in the third month of the year the country exported 54.5 thousand tons, compared to 56.5 thousand tons in February.

Meanwhile, billing totaled about US$232.3 million, 4.3% lower to that of the previous month. The price also had a monthly decrease, in this case of only 0.8%.

However, Compared to March 2023, meat shipments improved by 24.3% in quantities and 2.1% in turnover. This difference arose from a strong year-on-year decrease in prices, of around 17.9%.

China remained the main destination of the exports in question, concentrating 70% of them. However, in March it lost some ground at the expense of Israel and the United States, the two countries that completed the podium and for which increases were observed both in monthly and year-on-year terms.
