A central location factor for Upper Austria is qualified specialists. In order to meet the demand, qualified immigration is also needed, said State Economics Councilor Markus Achleitner at a press conference today, Monday. For companies that are looking and foreign workers who want to work in Austria, “Come2Upper Austria” (located at the location agency biz-up) is a central contact point for all offers. Entry and integration support is bundled by the economics and integration department.

A survey of 1,000 foreign workers (“internationals”) showed that they would particularly like to have such a contact point where topics ranging from the red-white-red card to insurance issues and childcare could be raised. “Come2Upper Austria should, on the one hand, coordinate the recruitment process and, on the other hand, accompany the integration process,” said Integration State Councilor Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer. This included communication with authorities, language opportunities, information on leisure activities, housing options and child care. “In addition to language acquisition, good on-site support is also an essential component,” said Doris Kollar-Plasser, regional manager of the Upper Austrian Stiftung Liebenau, which employs 18 Filipino nursing staff.

One company that uses the service is the Linz-based software developer MIC, which employs 23 percent of international specialists. “You need intensive support as you settle in,” said human resources manager Margit Klima-Bencic. Such offers are therefore needed to make recruiting possible for smaller companies.
