The Government has already put into circulation the new ticket of $10,000 which will be progressively distributed starting today through the network of bank branches and ATMs throughout the country. What will be the security measures?

This bill presents on its obverse the images of Manuel Belgrano and María Remedios del Valle, a prominent heroine of the War of Independence. On the reverse, the scene of the Flag Pledge that took place on February 27, 1812 is artistically recreated. Belgrano’s image is a portrait attributed to the French artist François Casimir Carbonnier, while the representation of the heroine comes from the work “La Capitana” by the Argentine artist Gisela Banzer.

This $10,000 bill, along with the $20,000 bill that will bear the image of Juan Bautista Alberdi and which is expected to be in circulation in the last quarter of the year, will facilitate transactions between users, optimize the logistics of the financial system and contribute to reducing the costs associated with the acquisition of finished banknotes. Both banknotes are part of the “Heroines and Heroes of the Homeland” family, announced in May 2022.

$10,000 bill: what are the security measures

With the launch of the new bill, the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) detailed the security measures that allow differentiating an original bill from a fake one:

  • Watermark: In the blank sector, when looking at the bill against the light, you can see the portraits of María Remedios del Valle and Manuel Belgrano, as well as the initials of their names in a light tone.
  • Vented security thread: A red security thread is inserted into the bill and is revealed in three “windows”. The thread presents a dynamic effect when moving the bill. When held against the light, it is seen as a continuous band and the acronym BCRA can be seen.
  • Optical variability ink: This motif changes color from gold to green when the banknote is tilted, presenting a dynamic three-dimensional effect.
  • The latent image —the letters “RA” can be seen when the bill is observed with grazing light— and the front-back complementation motif —when held against the light, the motif is completed and the value “10,000” appears—are other of the security measures of the new ticket.
  • The ticket has identification for people with blindness: on the vertical edges you can feel the relief of the lines of the parallel bars.

New bills: the Government aims for the $20,000 bill

Both banknotes belong to the “Heroines and Heroes of the Homeland” family announced in May 2022.”
