Rossiya Airlines will purchase MC-21-300 aircraft with a wing made of Russian composites. This was announced on Saturday, December 25, by the general director of the Irkut corporation Andrei Boginsky.
“In 2022, we plan to start supplying MC-21-300 aircraft to the first operator, Rossiya Airlines, which is part of the Aeroflot group. All production aircraft will be equipped with a wing made of Russian composites, ”he told TASS.
He also recalled that during the MAKS-2021 salon in Zhukovsky, the parties signed documents regulating the preparation of MC-21 aircraft for operation.
Earlier that day, the MC-21-300 aircraft made its first flight. The liner took off from the airfield of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, a branch of the Irkut company (part of the UAC of the Rostec State Corporation).
Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov noted that the first flight of an aircraft with a wing made of Russian composites proves that the MC-21 program “is consistently and steadily moving forward, despite sanctions and unfair competition.”
In turn, the head of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, said that the MS-21-300 airliner showed itself worthy, and its creation is a victory for the domestic aircraft industry, including a victory over sanctions.
On December 16, the MC-21-300 aircraft performed its first training flight. The airliner took off from Zhukovsky airport and, having covered more than 4 thousand km, landed in Irkutsk. The crew tested the reliability of the engines, functional systems and equipment of the standard-design airliner in the conditions of further operation.
MS-21-300 / 310 is a new generation medium-range aircraft with a capacity of 163 to 211 passengers. Its key feature is the composite wing.
At present, certification of the MC-21-300 aircraft is nearing completion, and it is planned to start delivering it to the airline in 2022. At the same time, the MS-21-310 aircraft with the new Russian PD-14 engine is undergoing flight tests.
