Sales improved 4.6% annually in April after lower prices

The Automotive Chamber of Commerce (CCA) reported that 136,230 used vehicles were sold in April, which represented an increase of 4.66% compared to the same month in 2023, when 130,167 units had been sold.

The market of used cars experienced a recovery in April that dealerships attribute to a “price rearrangement”, with drops in vehicle values.

The Chamber of Automotive Commerce (CCA) reported that in April 136,230 used vehicles were sold, which represented an increase of 4.66% compared to the same month in 2023, when 130,167 units had been sold.

If compared to March (105,969 vehicles), the growth reaches 28.56%. In the first four months of the year, 464,562 units were sold, which still represents a drop of 10.94% compared to the same period in 2023 (521,650 units).

In this period, the provinces that suffered the greatest decrease were Formosa with 30.56%, La Rioja (26.40%) and Jujuy (25.15%). Those that fell the least were Entre Ríos (6.93%) and Mendoza (5.98%).

The secretary of the chamber, Alejandro Lamas, indicated that “the sales numbers for April have shown a rrecovery of activity compared to the same month last year and a significant recovery compared to March of this year”.

“Surely the most important factor, along with the evident drop in the inflation rate, has to do with a downward adjustment of prices that indicate a new market reality,” Lamas said.

He said that this, together with a significant reduction in rates to be able to finance saless, they are surely factors, not unique, but very important to begin to generate a recovery in activity.”

“We hope that the May numbers reflect this incipient recovery that would lead us to moderate optimism thinking about the second half of the year,” he indicated.
