The number of empty premises in the main commercial areas of the Buenos aires city registered a decrease of 12.3% compared to the same period in 2023, according to a survey carried out during March-April by the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC).

Specifically, during the second two months of this year, a total of 200 local on sale, rent or closed in the surveyed areas. On the other hand, with respect to the previous measurement, corresponding to January-February 2024, an increase of 2.6% was detected, when the empty premises there had been 195.


What is the rental situation?
By exclusively analyzing the local in rent and sale (that is, those offered) it is observed that in rent there were no changes compared to the previous period (January-February), but, compared to the same period in 2023, it fell by 42.6%. While, in sales there was a decrease of 27.8% compared to the previous two months and a decrease of 48% compared to March-April 2023.
According to the Chamber’s measurement —which has been carried out since 2014—, which included the main commercial arteries of Buenos Aires, bimonthly progress was recorded on Corrientes (200-6800) and Pueyrredón (0-1200) avenues and on the pedestrian Florida . For its part, on Santa Fe avenues (700-5300); Rivadavia (2000-2800; 4900-5400; 6300-7400; 11000-11600); Córdoba (4000-5300); Cabildo (4800-5500) and Avellaneda (2800-3800); Bimonthly declines were evident.
The numbers in La Plata
Based on the data analyzed by the CAC From a survey carried out by the Federation of Wholesalers and Suppliers of the State of the Province of Buenos Aires (FEMAPE), it was determined that, during March-April 2024, compared to the same survey but in 2023, a decrease of 11, 5% in the number of local inactive – for sale, rent, closed or simply closed – in the main commercial areas of La Plata. Likewise, in relation to the previous two-month period, January-February 2024, there was an increase of 35.3%. During the third and fourth month of 2024, a total of 23 local no commercial activity in the surveyed areas.
