The Argentine industry is on its way to completing a year of uninterrupted declineas a consequence of the sharp drop in demand for goods, product of the loss of purchasing power.
According to the Argentine Industrial Union, in March the activity registered a 17.2% drop in the annual comparison and 4.7% monthly without seasonality.
It was about tenth consecutive month of decline and, with this data, The first quarter of 2024 accumulated a year-on-year decrease of -11.7%.
March data was affected in part by fewer business days and specific issues in some sectors.
The advance data for April reflect that the year-on-year decline persists, although a slight improvement could be observed compared to March; which was at a very low level.
The industrial sector faces certain difficulties in the context of the decline in levels of demand and construction, as well as the rise in costs.
