Today, a good one and a half years later, the 45-year-old Berliner still raves about it as if it were a past love: his Rolex Milgauss looked “very reserved, small and delicate”. The steel watch with the silver dial is a rarity from the 1960s. Rolex originally made it for scientists, but today it is a sought-after collector’s item. His grandfather, Berner says, bought it for a few hundred marks and later left it to him.
