Professional cleaning in this country is paid around 1,000 euros less than the average wage. According to a survey, a job in the IT sector, for example, allows for much greater advancement.
In no other occupational group do employees earn as little as in the cleaning sector. In this sector, the average gross monthly salary is 2,493 euros – this is according to figures from the Federal Statistical Office, which were requested by the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) and reported on by the Funke newspapers. In second place among the occupational groups that earn the least are agricultural occupations with a median value of 2,531 euros.

Third place goes to jobs in the tourism, hotel or catering industry. According to the figures, the average salary here is 2,634 euros per month. The average gross salary in Germany is therefore 3,698 euros.
“If people who are crucial to keeping this country running earn more than 1,000 euros a month less than the average wage, then that has nothing to do with fairness,” BSW boss Wagenknecht told the Funke newspapers. The wage level is too low. “Hard work is hardly worth it for millions anymore.” Wagenknecht called for higher wages and more collective bargaining coverage.
According to the Federal Statistical Office, the professional groups that earn particularly well include IT and other computer science professions with a monthly gross salary of 5,477 euros, followed by teachers and training professions with 5,228 euros, and technical developers and professions in the field of construction and production control with 5,077 euros.
