According to preliminary estimates, the abolition of accounting for vehicle wear and an increase in life and health benefits to 2 million rubles can increase the cost of compulsory motor third party liability insurance up to 60% for some consumers, Igor Yurgens, head of the All-Russian Union of Insurers (ARIA), told Izvestia in an interview with Izvestia. At the same time, according to him, car owners who rarely get into accidents, most likely, will hardly see a rise in price.
“We are discussing the proposal with the Central Bank and believe that the changes should be introduced in stages so that they do not lead to a sharp rise in the price of compulsory car insurance. We expect the draft law to appear in the first quarter of 2022, but a consensus between the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance, ARIA and car owners’ associations on the changes has already been reached, ”said Igor Yurgens.
According to the head of the ARIA, the Central Bank’s proposal to expand the tariff corridor will be accepted in the near future.
