The Gaza war is also having an impact on the labor market. The International Labor Organization has analyzed unemployment.
After eight months of war, unemployment in the Gaza Strip is at 79.1 percent, according to a new analysis. In the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where the number of clashes between Palestinians, Israeli settlers and soldiers has increased significantly, unemployment was at 32 percent, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Palestinian Statistics Office reported.
The ILO reported that the numbers are probably much higher. People who are no longer looking for work due to the situation are not included.
The real gross domestic product in the Gaza Strip shrank by 83.5 percent within eight months, and in the West Bank by 22.7 percent. In the first four months of the conflict, the private sector in both regions together suffered daily production losses of 19 million dollars (17.5 million euros).
