Since October 2022, a construction site has dominated Linz’s Hessenplatz: the headquarters of the Upper Austria Chamber of Commerce was rebuilt for a total of 37.2 million euros. The interest group moved into the building in 1952 and there have been hardly any structural changes since then. In May, the construction work, in which around a hundred companies (90 percent of them from Upper Austria) were involved, was completed after 81 weeks.

The time and budget plan were adhered to, said Chamber President Doris Hummer at a press conference on Wednesday, during which she and Chamber Director Gerald Silberhumer led a tour of the modernized “House of Business.” The change is also visible from the outside: behind the bus stop there is a public park that leads to the Chamber of Commerce. The number of parking spaces in the underground car park has been increased from 187 to 250.

New customer zones and seminar rooms have been created inside, which can be booked by companies. “The new building now offers the opportunity for meetings and exchanges,” said Hummer. The “Felix” bistro offers a range of catering options that are available to both employees and the public.
