Chamber of Construction holds its annual event in the midst of the worst public works crisis in years and a drop in employment in the sector

The annual convention of the Argentine Chamber of Construction (CAMARCO) is celebrated this Tuesday, June 25, in an extremely challenging context for the sector. This year, the event takes place under the motto “Dialog Builders“, in an effort to address the most critical issues and share crucial perspectives on the future of the industry.

The meeting takes place in a very critical context and with all the industrial indicators in red. Regarding the sector, the situation is marked by a stoppage in public works, influenced by the policies of the current administration headed by Javier Mileiwhich has caused a significant drop in employment.

According to Gustavo Weisspresident of CAMARCO, in just six months around 100 thousand direct jobs have been lost in the construction sector, with another 100 thousand at risk, due to the reduction in demand for inputs and related services.

Despite this adverse context, the convention also seeks to establish bridges of dialogue with national authorities. The day’s program includes an inaugural matteada in the “Plaza de la Comunicación”, followed by a series of panel discussions, keynote lectures and networking sessions.

The CAMARCO meeting

The opening event will feature the notable participation of key figures such as Gerardo Martínez from UOCRA, Luis Enrique Giovine, Secretary of Public Works of the Nation, and Jorge Macri, Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires. In addition, the presence of the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, is expected, who will address the current economic situation and future prospects.

Renowned experts such as Emmanuel Álvarez and Andrés Malamud will offer analysis on the economy and the impact of current policies, while Agustín Salvia and Gustavo Restrepo will explore the social importance of infrastructure. Debates will also be held on the crucial role of the provinces in infrastructure and employment, with the participation of governors from different Argentine provinces.
