The official who has been carrying out his duties in the Government since the beginning of March was recently officially appointed on an “ad-honorem” basis to the position of “Chief of the Cabinet of Advisors to the President of the Nation, with the rank and hierarchy of Secretary.”starting June 10, 2024, leading to speculation about the delegation of a different role.

In response to the questions raised, Reidel expressed himself on his X account, saying: “I think there was a bit of confusion with my appointment. It’s not a change of function, it’s the formalization of my position in an official manner. My role remains the same.”
At the same time, he confirmed that his work “is ad honorem” and said: “For me it is a pride and a privilege to contribute my work to build a better country.” In addition, he thanked Milei for giving him “this opportunity to give something back” to his country.
He had expressed the same sentiments when he was appointed to public office in March, saying: “I would like to thank the President for his trust in putting me in charge of the new Council of Economic Advisers to the President. It is an honour and a privilege for me to be able to contribute my efforts to thinking about the Argentina of the future.”
The former vice president of the Central Bank when the entity was led by Federico Sturzenegger, in the government of Mauricio Macri, is Milei’s main reference. This was reflected recently when the President mentioned him during his visit to the Czech Republic, predicting that both will be awarded the Nobel Prize if the application of the current economic model is successful.
In this regard, the president said: “With my chief advisor, Dr. Demian Reidel, we are rewriting a large part of economic theory. If we end up doing well, I will probably be awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics together with Demian.”
