The theft of Russian gas will lead to the end of its transit through the territory of Ukraine. This opinion was expressed on Monday, January 3, by Senator Alexei Pushkov in his Telegram channel.
“An interesting forecast: Ukraine will have to steal Russian gas, predicted the ex-head of Naftogaz Kobolev, and this will lead to the termination of the contract with Russia and the end of Ukrainian transit,” said Pushkov.
Earlier that day, the former head of Naftogaz, Andrei Kobolev, admitted that Kiev would steal Russian gas if it could not ensure sufficient fuel imports.
“It is not difficult to predict the reaction of Russians to the theft of gas: the stop of transit through the territory of Ukraine and the immediate termination of the current contract,” said the ex-head of Naftogaz.
On December 28, Dmitry Birichevsky, Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that gas transit through Ukraine after 2024 will depend on the agreements that the parties manage to reach.
