The business entity supported the document signed in the city of Tucumán and highlighted the points related to fiscal adjustment, tax and labor reform.

He Institute for Business Development of Argentina (IDEA) supported in a statement the May Pact that was signed in the city of Tucumán and reaffirmed its support “for the definition of long-term state policiesbased on consensus and the search for predictability and certainty for the future.”

“As the voice of the business community, for years now, IDEA publicly expresses the need to achieve a broad agreement “between different sectors on the guiding principles that promote the development of Argentina,” the entity said. In addition, they assured that they consider that every democratically elected government must have a legal framework and the necessary tools to be able to carry out its plan in a more sustainable way.

May Pact: the three points highlighted by IDEA

Among the points that are part of the May Pact, IDEA He said that they found coincidences with the proposals presented by the institution to different governments on almost all the issues and highlighted the following points:

  • Fiscal balance: “Years ago We maintain that balance, efficiency and sustainability of public spending must be a priority. for any Government,” they said.
  • Tax reform: They assured that a simplified system that includes equitable, progressive and efficient taxeswhich do not affect the investment decisions of the private sector and the consumption of the entire society is one of the priorities on the agenda for companies. “In addition, we raise the importance of re-discussing the Federal Tax Sharing system, which currently causes injustices for some provinces and few incentives for the rest to generate genuine and sustainable income,” they said.
  • Work framework: IDEA considered that The need for modern labor legislation is key and that promotes formal work.

These were the statements made by the entity after the signing of the May Pact promoted by President Javier Milei, who said that the 10 points included in it “are basic unalterable laws of the economy” and “unobjectionable mathematics.” The head of State announced that “economic shamanism is over” and stressed that “we must do what has worked all over the world.”

The document addresses issues related to the deregulation of the economy; fiscal, labour and pension reforms; reduction of public spending, with fiscal balance; exploitation of natural resources; opening of the economy and the re-discussion of co-participation with the provinces.
