Car industry: Sales decline at Audi | STERN.de

Audi sold fewer cars in the first half of the year than it did a year ago. This applies to both the brand and the group, which includes two other brands.

Sales at Audi are currently sluggish. In the first half of the year, the brand delivered 833,000 cars to customers, according to parent company Volkswagen. That was 8.2 percent less than in the same period last year. If you include the two luxury brands belonging to the Audi Group, Bentley and Lamborghini, the figure was 844,000 cars – also a decrease of 8.2 percent.

When it comes to sales of pure electric vehicles, Audi’s performance was somewhat better. At 76,700, this represents minimal growth of 1.3 percent. A year ago, however, this figure had been up by a good 51 percent.

Only on Tuesday evening, Audi announced that it was considering ending production of the Q8 e-tron early due to sluggish sales, which is why the Ingolstadt-based company’s plant in Brussels is now threatened with closure. In the first half of the year, 17,900 of the models were delivered – including the Sportback variant. The start of deliveries of the Q6 e-tron in the coming months could have a positive effect.
