The President of the Rural Society affirmed that meat problems are solved with more meat

“The Government, listening to the claims that we had with the export, proposed this, and the reality is that those who command and carry out the decisions of the country is the Government,” said the president of the SRA.

After that, he added: “The ideal thing for us would be for the meat to be fully released for export, especially when domestic consumption is perfectly covered with the volumes of meat produced, but the Government has decided to go this way, which is not the ideal but it is possible and what could be done up to now “.

The Government yesterday established a scheme in which the export of seven cuts of barbecue is suspended until the end of 2023 to guarantee supply in the domestic market, while completely freeing shipments of meat from type D, E and bull cows. , also called canned or manufactured.

The new provision reserves cuts of high domestic demand for the domestic market, including roast with or without bone, skirt, matambre, roast cover, shoulder and vacuum, prohibiting their export until December 31, 2023.

Meanwhile, the export without quota of “canned and manufactured cows” is opened, the result of an order from agricultural entities, which are estimated at a total of 1.3 million animals and which are mostly sent to China, a country that at present it absorbs 72.8% of the total dispatches in the country, according to November data from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Meat and derivatives of the Argentine Republic (CICCRA).

Likewise, Pino indicated that the sector’s dialogue with the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Julián Domínguez, is “good” and that, despite not sharing the “ideology” of the Government, the sector has to “coexist and continue working” on the whole. “We understand that this is a Government that, due to its style, its ideology, likes to be present intervening in certain markets such as wheat, corn and meat. We do not share this position but it is the Government, and we have to live together and continue working, “said the rural leader.

“We have to look for the greatest possibility of certainty to continue working in a calm way,” he added.

For his part, the president of the Rural Society referred to the price of meat and considered that the axis of the problem is inflation. “It seems to me that we erred in the diagnosis of the price of meat; the starting point is the inflation that hits all Argentines in the pocket”, opined.

The new export scheme is part of the GanAr 2022/23 livestock plan, presented by Domínguez last December.

The plan, which has the objective of generating “predictability and confidence” in the sector, also includes the launch of credit lines for $ 100,000 million to achieve an increase in production (with a greater weight in slaughter animals and a better weaning rate), as well as the creation of an advisory body (the Beef Production Observatory).

The latter, also created yesterday by resolution of the Official Gazette, will give advice to boost productivity and generate a good business climate in the meat chain.
