One of Donald Trump’s most famous comments came in 2016: “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I still wouldn’t lose a voter.” This joke contained a grain of truth. Trump’s supporters are totally loyal and stick by their hero, even though he has been charged with 91 crimes and has made countless hurtful or vulgar statements that would have ended other politicians’ careers.
